A quiet day in Zurich

After a big few days of travel, I was happy to do very little in Zurich.

The day was quite cold, overcast and with intermittent rain. I’ve been to Zurich once before and unlike many other cities, it’s hard to think of well-known landmarks. While a very beautiful and historic city, I’ve never felt drawn back.

Interestingly, and if Wikipedia is to be believed, the Gross Munster (above) is where Zwingli first started to preach the elements of the Reformation. So for this part of Europe, it’s here where the spark was lit.

The other aspect of Zurich and all of Switzerland is its currency. It never adopted the Euro. It’s a very wealthy economy and its own currency reflects this – every is so expensive. Maybe ok if you’re bringing in US dollars (Americans whine about the costs too) but not good with AUD.

A beautiful meal at Rheinfelder Bierhaus – with fried spätzle.

And from my post-dinner stroll…
